Our family has been farming here since 1964 and was originally purchased by Darrel and Darlene Peyton. The love of the land and it's preservation is vital to us and future generations to come. Our corn and soybean fields follow no-till farming practices as they have for close to 30 years, with a goal to increase the soil health. We carry the Water Quality Certificate, the highest award in Minnesota for land and water conservation. Our Herefords are rotationally grazed in beautiful pastures overlooking Lake Latimer. Every member of our heard is treated with compassion and we look forward to the busy calving season as new calves join our family.
There’s something special about knowing exactly where your food comes from and trusting the family that makes it happen. We are the Holt Family. Matthew and Heather grew up on farms in the Long Prairie area and are happy to raise their family here as well. We are proud members of the American Hereford Association, Minnesota Hereford Association, and Minnesota State Cattlemen's Association. Veteran owned and are members of Farmer Veteran Coalition.
Our Polled Herefords started with excellent genetics from Jennissen’s Emprise Herefords of Sauk Centre, MN. Dave and Barb were looking to back away from cattle after a very successful Dairy and Beef career. Dave and Barb's Holstein Sire "Elton" is known around the world! Our farm has obtained the The Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Award. This program is a voluntary opportunity for farmers and agricultural landowners to take the lead in implementing conservation practices that protect our water.
You can find our story on the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program website.
